First Stop: Location
Nestled right at the end of Playa Espadilla Norte, away from the hustle and bustle of Manuel Antonio National Park, Playitas is like a real-life postcard. It’s the kind of beach you seek when you want to escape the noise of the world and find yourself surrounded by pure nature.
Features of Playa Playitas
Picture a delicate strip of white sand, caressed by intensely turquoise waters. And although it’s smaller than its neighbor, Espadilla, Playitas has nothing to envy. It’s a gem in its own right. But beware! Nature still reigns here. Don’t expect services like shops or restaurants; just you, the sea, and a paradise waiting to be discovered.
To get there, just follow the final stretch of Playa Espadilla. You’ll come across some charming rocks that invite you to cross them. And once you leave them behind… voilà! You’ve arrived at Playitas.

With gentle yet playful waves, Playitas is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. So, bring your gear and let yourself be seduced by the underwater world. If you prefer to stay on the shore, the sand is ideal for a tropical tan.

Although nature rules at Playitas, don’t worry. Just a few kilometers away, in the heart of Manuel Antonio, you’ll find everything from boutique hotels to local sodas where you can savor Costa Rican cuisine. And if you need to buy something, there are supermarkets everywhere!
Travel Tip
If you decide to visit Playitas, consider using a 4×4 vehicle, especially if you’re traveling during the rainy season. The road, although part of the adventure, can be challenging. You know what they say, better safe than sorry!

Before reaching this beach, you’ll encounter a trail lined with lush vegetation and wildlife. Yes! Mischievous monkeys and curious raccoons are common around here.
Gemelas Beach
While these beaches may not have that immediate “wow” factor that leaves you speechless like some others in the area, they have something that many busier beaches have lost: serenity.

This beach, although a bit farther from its sister Playa Manuel Antonio, is a constant reminder of the rich biodiversity that our region hosts.
Espadilla Beach
A vast stretch of sand spanning about 3.6 km, mysteriously divided into two: Espadilla Norte and Espadilla Sur, separated by an estuary like a natural passageway.
